1976 Oldsmobile Omega Commercial – Foreign Car Invasion

The seventies began the first real intrusion on our auto market from abroad. From Japan to Europe, and a few in-between, the decade of disco left the Americans no choice but to confront it head on. The initial crop of imports either targeted the luxury buyer or the economy buyer. In this advertisement, Oldsmobile was targeting both. Their redesigned compact Omega obtaining mileage of smaller cars, and costing much less than the expensive Europeans, perhaps a bit of a stretch on both fronts.
