1978 Mercury Zephyr Test Drive
Mercury breezed into oust Comet as Mercury’s 1978 compact. At the start of the season, the new Zephyr family included a 2 door sedan, 4-door sedan, and a station wagon. Replacing the out moded Comet, the less hefty Zephyr, like it’s Ford Fairmont cousin, promised Frugal fuel usage, without compromising on comfort.
Though a close relative to Ford’s Fairmont, it scored far lower, but still healthy, sales of 152,172 units.
