1979: Chrysler prepares for the Iacocca cars

The original body Aspen/Volare, received some much needed attention in the form of a face-lift.  The entire Ford Fairmont front end treatment, with minor detail changes, was grafted onto the Chrysler compact, giving it a thinner, more angular appearance.  This would be the last year for the Aspen/Volare as we knew it.  Plans were well under way for the introduction of K car, GM X-body proportioned compact Aspen/Volare replacements.  Rumor had it that the Valiant and Dart names would be revived for Chrysler’s K-car.
