1982 Renault Alliance Promo

American Motors began building a new small front drive four door during 1982, at its Kenosha, Wisconsin plant. the aptly named Alliance was a close copy of the European Renault 9 four door. However, AMC produced a two door version just for US sale. Alliance bowed as a 1983 and sold well at just over 142,000 units.

AMC must have been in big trouble to get this excited over the Alliance. BTW, sharp eyes will spot an XJ Cherokee/Wagoneer mule in the test track building, getting ready for the 1984 model year. Thanks Baja, keep em coming!
