1983 Cadillac Product Changes and New Features

So ran the 1980’s. The 1980 Seville had a long hood, short deck look and a substantial increase in wheelbase. Cadillacs at the outset of the decade began to assume a very busy, ornamented look. By mid decade, due to Cadillac’s body sharing with Buick and Olds, Ford Motor Company would be able to boost sales for its own premium, lines by drawing attention to this ‘look alike’ quality. The new Seville had front wheel drive, four wheel independent suspension, electronic leveling control and a 6.0 liter 360cid V8 with digital electronic fuel injection. The 1983 would effectively use only as many cylinders as were required by driving conditions. It proved to be fraught with problems, and its system was so complex that service centers had difficulty dealing with even minor problems.
