1983: Ragtime at Chrysler

Chrysler chairman Lee Iacocca told shareholders the company was moving ahead with plans to build the luxury 2-seat convertible first displayed at the January 1983 NAIAS.  The Mercedes 380SL clone was to enjoy a limited run of about 5000 units a year, and priced at around $20,000. Insiders hinted that the new convertible code named G27 was on the books for a possible 1987 introduction.
