1983 Toyota Tercel 4WD SR5 Test Drive
There was only one new entry in the station wagon category for 1983, Toyota’s 4WD Tercel. With almost classic “love it or hate it” styling, the Terel was expected to be something of a cult car. Most of the mechanical components were right out of the Tercel hatchbacks. But the 1.5 liter OHC four drove both end through a unique in the industry 6-speed manual gear box. An ultra low 1st gear was used in liue of a 2 speed transfer case.
