Both the Caprice/Impala car lines were virtually unchanged for 1985. The only notable mechanical variation was the elimination of the current 3.8 V6 engine. The new base powerplant was the 155HP injected 4.3 Liter V6.

During the 1980s, 1985 was the last year for Impala. Caprice continued for one more decade, while Impala reappeared in 1994. GM’s B-body cars would depart after 1996. By the way, those 350 diesel V8s from Olds were terrible, since they were known for their many mechanical woes.
