The original K-cars, Plymouth Reliant and Dodge Aries, received their first major restyling since being introduced in 1981. New nose and tail cap treatments helped soften the formerly angular contours, affording both a more contemporary appearance and better aero numbers. The entire line had their interiors redone, gaining a number of comp fort and convenience touches in the process. Power came from a 96hp carbed 2.2 or the 101 hp injected Mitsu 2.6 liter.
