Oldsmobile ranked third in overall sales for 1986, with 1,050,832 units sold, behind Chevrolet and Ford respectively.

Except for its large station wagon, Oldsmobile did not have any more rear drive models.

GM’s all new Riviera, Toronado an Eldorado averaged 18 inches shorter; not everyone took to the sheared off look.

Buick LeSabre and Oldsmobile Eighty-Eight folloed big brother Electra/Ninety-Eight downsizing to a front drive and V6.

Thank you for sharing this video! I wonder why they did not show Custom Cruiser. It was interesting looking back and seeing how “downsizing” was not a great move. The largest car was the Cutlass Supreme at that time at 200 inches. The others were less than 200 inches and Toronado was too small. It was smaller than Cutlass Ciera! That was indeed a different era and different time. It was an interesting look back.

In 1986,the only Oldsmobile models that offered rear drive, V8 power, & body on frame construction were the Cutlass Supreme Coupe & Sedan, & Custom Cruiser Wagon.
