The Buick GNX was a super version of the Regal Grand National built to honor its passing. McLaren Engines, Incorporated got the job of developing a special high tech, turbocharged V6 with an intercooler, fuel injection and electronic controls. It gave 276 horsepower at 4,400 RPM. The performance modified suspension featured a longitudinal torque box. Exterior features included black paint, a power bulge hood, functional cowl vents, GNX badging and a rear spoiler. The GNX listed for $29,290 and total production was 547 cars.
