1988 Chevrolet Corvette Test Drive

Like many things, including music, or certain foods, the C4 generation of Chevrolet’s Corvette, was a car I never was horribly fond of when in production, but as I age, I am finding them more and more pleasing. Perhaps it is a nostalgia thing, where I recall days of my youth, or I find them a relative bargain when searching online vehicles listings with lust. Either way, like the review found, there are things to like, such as “gut wrenching V8 power…”, how the car “squirts to 60”, to the new for 88′ PassKey, theft deterrent reducing larceny by roughly 45%. Items I personally find endearing to this model, were the cool way the headlamps flip in reverse to the on position, the wheel design, and the overall character the C4 exhibits. Things found less desirable: long platform life that tends to follow the Vette through its iterations, high sill entry not suitable for wearing a skirt, being a woman, or a bag piper’, and even though described as the best digital gauges in the business, the digital gauges! From acceleration that was quite good for the 80s, that now family sedans can match, to braking that today supercars have a hard time duplicating, the Corvette was indeed a “…refined 80’s world class sports car”!
