1989 Subaru Justy ECVT Commercial
Along with the Fiat Uno Selecta and the Ford Fiestamatic, Subaru had now joined the select club of automobiles that had continuously variable transmissions. Subaru was obviously not the first manufacturer to become interested by Mr. Van Doorne’s patent. For 1989, the Justy would have ECVT as its automatic transmission. Subaru went one better by making the whole thing electronic. In fact, the clutch was controlled, in this case, by an electronic management system, hence the ‘E’.
