1991 Dodge Shadow Turbo Convertible Test Drive

Convertibles are a great way to enjoy the sun. However I ponder if Punxsutawney Phil had viewed this shadow how much longer you would have to drive with the top up! Removing the top of a car, results in the elimination of a major portion of structural rigidity, which in turn increases cowl twist (the torsional rotation of the structure where the section located at the base of the windshield is stationary and the rear of the car twists more so). According to the host, they did a fine job with the structure, and a not so fine job with the finishing. The appearance of snaps and Velcro lead to a unrefined look. Coupled to a leaky top where it meets the windshield, show the obvious low cost drop top roots. The feeling you get while piloting a convertible is a universally pleasant experience, regardless of your budget! So does cutting the the roof of a Shadow, really make the ‘Sundance’? without a shadow of a doubt!
