Jaguar’s venerable inline six power plant had been retired, and in its place was the impressive 4.0 Liter DOHC V8 that made its debut last year in the XK8. Its 290 horsepower energized Jaguar’s sedan line. For the aggressively sporting XJR, the addition of a supercharger spiked output to 370.
