1998 Volkswagen New Beetle Test Drive

As lovable as a Beanie Baby (90s reference) and, if VW had its way, every bit as ubiquitous, the new Beetle was the automotive sensation to close out the century. So adorable it could get by on looks alone, it also happened to be a competitively good car. With a strong balance between road compliance and handling spiced with particularly fun steering response, the Beetle felt like a German road car, even thought it looks like a ‘Toon Town escapee.
