Intelligently designed and marketed, the Malibu continued to climb to higher sales levels, selling 250,000 units in North America in 1998. It rivaled directly with some Japanese models that didn’t belong to its own class such as the Accord and Camry, with the advantage of a standard V6 engine and particularly elaborate equipment.
