It took Saturn a while to realize that slowly but surely, the market was shifting from subcompacts to compacts, and then to midsize cars. But the light finally dawned, and the S now had a big sister: the L. Searching through its worldwide inventory of parts and technical solutions, GM assembled a model that theoretically had all the qualities needed to grab a few tens of thousands of sales from the Toyota Camry and Honda Accord, unfortunately not knowing it before it was too late.
