2001.5 Volkswagen Passat Test Drive
Having arrived on our shores in October of 1997 as a 1998 model, the Passat was a blockbuster success story ever since. The elegant yet youthfully vibrant exterior immediately caught the ey of 20 somethings everywhere. More enticing than its looks was its low price – an entry level model Passat powered by the pleasantly peppy 1.8T inline 4 could be had for less than $21k. Although the biggest changes to the 2001.5 model appeared to be a freshening of the exterior, many areas throughout the car were revamped. In total, Volkswagen claimed to have redesigned a whopping 2315 parts for the new Passat.
