2001 Chevrolet Silverado HD Test Drive
General Motors finally decided to compete head on against Ford and Dodge in the Heavy duty pickup arena with the all new 2001 Chevrolet Silverado HD and GMC Sierra HD. That decision mandated a huge re-engineering effort be expanded on its 3/4 and one tone pickups. Although still based on the light duty pickups, these bigger trucks offered wider and stronger power-train choices along with their substantially beefed up chassis treatments and heavier running gear. Sheet-metal changes also gave each its own distinctive styling.
