2001 Subaru Outback H-6 Test Drive
First introduced in 1995, the Subaru Outback created a new image for the station wagon and helped Subaru firmly establish itself in the growing all wheel drive market. New for 2001 were the L.L. Bean Edition and the VDC. Both featured a 3.0 liter 212hp, horizontally opposed 6-cylinder engine. The 3 liter H6 VDC received an updated all wheel drive system with stability control, while the L.L. Bean edition received extra luxury features using the image of the well known Maine based catalog company.
