2002 BMW 745i Test Drive
BMW’s flagship 7 Series entered its fourth generation with new bodywork and myriad technical innovations. A 4.4L V8 mated to a six-speed automatic. Active anti-roll bars adjust constantly to limit body roll. Working in conjunction with the display screen mounted on the dash, BMW’s iDrive system controlled a wide variety of vehicle functions, including the entertainment setup, cell phone, and navigation system. Rear side airbags were optional. Airbags to protect the knees of front passengers were standard, along with side impact curtains.
