2003 Toyota 4Runner Test Drive
All new for 2003 the 4Runner stepped up in size and features. Sharing basic body on frame design with the new Lexus GX470, this well equipped five passenger SUV gained 4.5 in in wheel base, length and front shoulder room. The 4Runner now offered a choice of a new 4.0L/245hp V6 or optional 4.7L/235hp V8. While the former pairs with a 4A transmission, the high torques V8 mated with a 5A. Available in SR5, Limited and new Sport trims, and 2WD/4WD with low range configurations, all 4Runner’s got stability/traction control, ABS, and downhill Start Control; 4WD models add Downhill Assist Control.
