2004 BMW 645ci Test Drive
BMW’s sporty 6 series returned after a 14-year absence. Based on the new 5 series platform, the two-door coupe also was available as a convertible this time around. Its appearance was based on the Z9 concept shown at Frankfurt in 1999. The aluminum suspension had geometry different from the sedan’s to provide a sportier driving experience. Like the 5 Series, the 6 got new Active Front Steering that varied the steering ratio depending on vehicle speed. BMW’s high tech Dynamic Stability Control was also standard.
