Spied early for a 1990 European debut, Mercedes S-Class seen here in full camouflage, didn’t arrive to the US until 1992! Also speculated, was Russian brand Moskvich 2141 powered by a VW engine to meet US emission regulation, was thought to be headed here also!

GM’s infant division, inception in 1985, gestated for about 6 years before coming to production. Early reports claimed its Oldsmobile-esque looks derivative. Sneak peak at what was to be the 1989 Chevrolet Corvette ZR1. Thought of as the “King of the Hill”, this new model initially mustered ‘ONLY’ 375hp to the reporters supposed 400 even. To keep that figure in perspective, a 1988 standard Corvette merely put out roughly 250hp.
