Comparing it to imports like the VW Scirocco, RX7, and Datsun 280ZX, along with lesser cars including Rabbit and 210, to help allure the opposite gender. As you can see the Firebird buyer for 81′ primary charm was its strong image appeal, be it for looks, economy, or size. One thing is for sure, if a million sporty cars were sold in this model year, Pontiac’s wide varying range of models should have won over a large percentage of them with the Firebird.
