Back for a third season, Chevy’s bare-bones Chevette Sccooter qualified as Detroit’s least expensive 1983 car at $5333 for a four door hatch and just $4997 for the two door version.  Though pressed hard by Ford’s more modern Escort, Chevette still sold strongly at over 169,000 units
