Chevy’s first redesigned Caprice in 14 years bowing during the 1990 model year.  Sold as a 1991, it really was the 1977-1990 chassis with a swoopy new body. Sedans went on sale first, followed by a wagon running mate for the formal 1991 model year, when Caprice production nearly doubled to 217,
