1975 Cadillac Seville Maufacturer Promo
Cadillac as a compact? Yes,the new “international size” Seville gave Cadillac a serious contender against such European sedans as Mercedes-Benz. Styling relied more on good taste than high drama, and the Seville look influenced GM designs for more than a decade. A fuel-injected, Oldsmobile built 350 cid V8 engine, rated at 180 bhp, produced brisk acceleration. Seville owners enjoyed a pillowy ride as well as impressive handling. At $12,479, only long long wheelbase Seventy Five Limousines cost more.

Wow! I’m surprised that the Seville had multipoint, electronically controlled fuel injection back in 1975! Even the Germans were still using continuous, mechanically controlled fuel injection back then. Here is a very interesting and detailed account of the development of the 1975 Seville: http://auto.howstuffworks.com/1976-1979-cadillac-seville.htm
I think Cadillac had good intentions with this Seville, devoting a good deal of engineering and development. But it ultimately proved to be too much of a 70s Cadillac to be considered as truly world class.
