1978 Mercury Zephyr Z-7 Commercial
Where Ford offered a Farirmont Futura, Mercury had the Zephyr Z-7, a compact coupe with a distinctive “basket’handle” roof-line as seen on recent T-Birds. Z-7 and Zephyr as a whole always trailed Fairmont in sales by a wide margin even though pries were quite close: for 1979, $4500 for Z-7 versus Futura’s $4463.
