1980 Subaru Brat Commercial

Subaru made big styling and engine changes for its 1980 2-,3-, and 4-door models. The newest option was the choice of 2- or 4-wheel drive for the Hatchback. A unique feature for Subaru’s was the horizontally opposed water cooled aluminum 4-cylinder engine that was upgraded for the 1980 models from 1.6 to 1.8 liters. In addition to the Hatchback there were the DL, GL, and GLF, all variations in 2- and 4-door bodystyles. Subaru also offered the unique BRAT, a 4WD pickup style runabout.
