31981 Chevrolet LUV Dealership Training Video
See Why The Chevrolet LUV Was The Compact Truck Of Choice In 1981 Although it was little more than an Isuzu wearing a bowtie, Chevrolet wasn’t deterred from making this vintage dealer promotional video to explain all the great features of “their” newly designed compact pickup. From the more aerodynamic exterior to the larger interior with “more room to conduct business or relax in”, Chevrolet had only good things to say about the “Series 11” LUV. You’ll have to watch this trip back in time to see exactly how the mini-pickup stacked up to the “No Frame” VW Rabbit, 2WD only Ford Courier, the rear sliding window-less Chrysler imports and the no-frills base Toyota. Call us crazy, but we like them all. jalopnik
This was my first truck in high school! It was white (with some rust thrown in for good measure) 4×4 (when the xfer case wanted to work). I miss that thing.
certainly don’t see them anymore
I picked up one of these trucks in the late 90s out of a for sale ad in a newspaper for a couple of hundred dollars .A guy in South Alabama was using it to pull tractor disc. around 4 Oak patch planting . he said he and a friend tried to changed the spark plug wires. And they pulled all of the wires off before trying to install the new ones. And it never started after that. I decided to take a look at the truck and knew it was something simple. So My brother had a full size Dodge four-wheel drive at the time with a flatbed trailer. we retrieve the truck took it home. Few days later call the local parts house and ordered rebuild points rotary button and cap with new spark plug wire ask for the firing order and installed all the parts. The truck started up on the first turn over.It was the 1.8 gas power 4 speed 4×4 oversized 33swamper tires with 6 inch body lift. The four wheel drive work well still strong the clutch did finally give out after I use the truck for several years loving every minute of it finally sold it on to a friend of my brothers. Would love to find one in good condition probably would never happen. I would like to see Chevrolet build something like the Luv again. maybe a. (Luv E) Single cab /extended cab 4×4 short box with a correct Baja stance. Just an idea GM. Lite utility vehicle electric!
