1981 Pontiac Grand Prix Manufacturer Promo – Yes this is the one!

Pontiac’s 1981 Grand Prix slicked down a tad for better fuel mileage, but go-power had got up and gone. A 120 horsepower 265 cubic inch V8 was top dog. The mid-level LJ model sold for around $7800. The 1981 Pontiac Grand Prix represented outstanding accomplishments of designers, stylists, and engineers. With classic appeal, distinctive lines impeccable details, and aerodynamic efficiencies of the future, the Grand Prix presents the look of tomorrow. With so many superlatives describing it, you’re still left with an adequate rendition of an honored car. Was this really what dreams were made of back then?

Thank you for sharing this winner. The engine and refinements got better over time. I liked this body style. It lasted from 1981-1987.

My favorite generation of Pontiac GP! My mom owned a 1983 LJ model in triple maroon – boy, do I miss that car!! Thanks for the ride down memory lane :)

Some of the concept sketches looked really good. It’s too bad more of those styling cues didn’t make it into the final product.
