1987 Porsche 928 S4 Test Drive

Background: This high performance GT dates from March 1977. Its capacity was increased form 4.7 liters to 5 liters with the addition of four valves per cylinder in 1985. Porsche can be proud of having created one of the most efficient and seductive series production cars in the world. While some are not excited by its looks, it is the standard bearer of an exceptional sporting heritage.

Always loved the looks of this unique GT. No doubt about it, if one of these Porsche’s whips by you on the highway, there is no mistaking it for anything other than a 928.

Buying a used one, on the other hand, is another matter. Although some are enticingly affordable used, I would have to go w/ a 944s or 944 turbo, instead. Looks aren’t everything you know (not to say these aren’t pretty competent performers in their own right).

Oh HELL ya! My dad had an ’88 S4 which was the first car I drove when I got my permit. Of course it was in a parking lot, but HEY! He had the 944 and 944 Turbo before this.
