If it aint broke, don’t fix it. GM’s first minivans, the Chevrolet Astro and GMC Safari, were some of the longest lived single generation vehicles in the auto industry. With its boxy, designed on a truck platform, the term ‘mini’-van was truly relative to its initial debut in 1984 for the 85′ model year. Traditional in style, the dependable Astro lived on for twenty years essentially unchanged, simply due to evolution of its intended purpose of people hauler, to work truck. To this day, you would be pretty removed, if you did not see one on a daily basis, just working away, and its easy to see why.
