21990 Pontiac Grand Prix Turbo Sedan Test Drive
For fans of the ‘Excitement’ Division, going from third in sales in the US Market, to extinct in 18 years is hard to grasp. Especially considering as recent as 1990 they were making unique, one year only editions of the corporate ubiquitous GM10 platform. The Turbo version of the Grand Prix initially debuted as a coupe, and later offered as the STE in sedan form. Touting body colored wheels, full front light bar and minimal skirting, and front and rear valances, the look was aggressive and handsome, Showing off functional hood louvers, spectacular comfy looking rear seats, HUD, an ASC developed Turbo version of the universal 3.1 v6, and a rear suspension unlike the coupe, sure to stay grounded, the Grand Prix has the power handling features to back up the claim “I’m exciting! Not only was it slower than its coupe sibling, but much slower than the competing Ford Taurus SHO.
