02002 Buick Rendezvous Test Drive
Buick’s first truck since the 1920’s, and its first SUV ever, was built off the same minivan platform as the Pontiac Aztek, but with a 4 inch stretch to accommodate a third row seat and up to seven passengers. The Rendezvous lineup consisted of the base CX with cloth seats and front drive, and the uplevel CXL featuring Versatrak AWD and leather seats. Dual front and side airbags were standard. Key options included OnStar satellite communications, sonar based Rear Parking Assist with audible obstacle warning, and an automatic level control system with air bladders around each rear shock absorber.
