01960 Chevrolet Corvair Commercial – Aspen
Corvair bowed with neat four door sedans in two trim levels. An upper 700 model, which sold for $2103, saw output reach 139,208 units. Less exterior chrome and fewer frills marked the low rung $2038 Corvair 500 sedan, which found 47,673 buyers. The costlier 700 sedan outsold it by nearly three-to-one. Chevy claimed seating space for six, hopefully they were all friends! Coupes were added at mid model year. Chevy’s Corvair was by far the most ‘revolutionary” of the Big Three’s new 1960 compacts.
