01962 Oldsmobile Commercial – 1962 Seattle Worlds Fair
With names like ‘Jetfire’ and ‘Starfire’, and engines dawning a name like ‘Turbo Rocket’, it is easy to see why Oldsmobile was named official car of the 1962 Seattle’s World Fair. With over Ten Million in attendance from April 21, 1962, to October 21, 1962, this provided GM the perfect opportunity to showcase its ‘spacey’ named Oldsmobile’s in front of Seattle’s newly constructed Space Needle. Not that they needed much help, as GM held roughly 50% of the market share at the time. As Seattle is currently celebrating the fairs 50th anniversary, lets take a look back, automotively at the beginning of a Seattle land mark.
