1969 Chevrolet Impala 396 Test Drive

Chevy’s Impala SS was a $422 option for 1969, not a separate model, with a 390-horse 427 V-8. A ragtop Impala SS is a rare find, with only 2455 built with the SS option installed. Side note: Chevrolet beat Ford again in model-year output, 2.1million cars to 1.8 million : the industry total reached 8.4 million sales for 1969.
