11969 Ford Torino CobraJet Test Drive
Fords Torino named after the city of Turin, which is considered the Detroit of Italy, was produced between 1968 and 1976, initially as an upscale version of the Fairlane. When the Fairlane nameplate was axed in 1971 the Torino carried on as Fords primary mid size offering. The Cobra model with the snake on the fender, coiled on a set of wheels is obviously after the road runner! Super cars certainly had a different meaning forty plus years ago, but as much as performance cars have progressed, declined, and now progressed again, there really isn’t anything else to call this narrow era of muscle cars other than, Super!
