1971 Chrysler New Yorker 440 Test Drive
Full size Chrysler’s had a sizable flock of loyal customers. A lower priced Royal sub series joined the Chrysler Newport lineup this year, carrying a new 255bhp 360 cid V8 engine – an enlargement of the small block V8 that debuted in the late Sixties. Newports could be equipped with V8s up to 440 cubic inches and 370 horsepower, and sold rather well. A $5041 sticker didn’t scare buyers away from the Chrysler New Yorker hardop, its 440cid V8 helped make it one of the years most popular Chrysler’s.
