01971 Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme Commercials
The year 1971 marked the beginning of the decline of the muscle car era. Federal emissions regulations and increased safety standards took their toll on all muscle cars, including the Olds. Horsepower ratings were down for all the muscle cars. Overall, the Cutlass/F-85 intermediate group was becoming more popular in Olds’ model mix. The sales situation at Olds was depressed that year, and the decline of the muscle car market only mad things worse. Oldsmobile division dropped into sixth place, selling only 550,314 cars, down considerably from 1970.
