01971 Oldsmobile Delta 88 Commercials
Urban dictionary defines ‘G-Ride’ loosely as: stolen car that you drive around like it’s yours until you sell it or get caught, or a ‘Really Fly Car”! Oldsmobile coined the term for the 1971 ad campaign, to promote exclusive features not matched by its rivals. Equipment such as 16 (or 17 dependant on which commercial you watch!) rubber body mounts, ‘Supershocks’ and coil springs, matched to the car based on the selected options chosen, to isolate occupants from road shock, jolts and jar. To, six inches of molded foam covered seats and fuel separator evaporator to reduce air pollution that was new to the automotive industry in the early 70’s. According to Oldsmobile advertising “Always a step ahead”, they were definitely ahead of something, as the term G-Ride evolved from a system that provided a smooth ride, to simply a smooth ride!
