21974 Chevrolet Vega vs Ford Pinto Comparison Test Drive
Just $137 added the Luxury Decor option to a subcompact Pinto Runabout, otherwise considered basic transportation. Energy absorbing bumpers were new in 1974, and engines were bigger than before, 122, or 140 cubic inches. Pintos continued to sell in big numbers.
Five models of the subcompact Vega went to dealerships, including the Estate Wagon. Vega’s four-cylinder engine made 75, or 85 horsepower. For 1974 Vega hatchback buyers could choose their own “Spirit of America” edition.
Oh Get a Life
I’d take the Vega any day over the Pinto!
