1974 Mercury Cougar vs. Oldsmobile Cutlass Comparison Test Drive

In the Seventies, Oldsmobile’s Cutlass Supreme coupe established itself as a true American favorite, helping to keep the company coffers full. More than 172,000 Supreme coupes were built for 1974. Olds also launched a Salon package, to attract buyers who favored European touring sedans. Offered only in XR7 trim, Mercury’s enlarged Cougar wore a wider grille.
