1976: Corvette Becomes a Hatchback for the First Time
Chevy still had a lot in store for its Fiberglass dream. Rectangular lights were rumored to be slid in for 1976, and was being considered as the last year of the C3 body-style. Other rumors were that fixed headlamps would be used for 1976. This was the more expensive option than putting the square units into a modified version of the current setup, considering the retooling costs. Also the hatchback mentioned previously as a C4 debut would make its debut early on the 1976 C3.
