Though conceived to replace the Maverick,Ford’s new Granada emerged as a separate upscale compact with styling cribbed from Mercedes Benz.This coupe and four door sedan sold in base and posh Ghia trim for $3800-$4300. it was a hit, first year sales topped 302,000.
