11980: An X-Car Station Wagon?
Thought provoking. Proposed as something we may have seen before the front-drive madness thoroughly infiltrated the American psyche. After all, Ford had a wagon version of the Escort/Lynx, and Chrysler had a wagon K-car. The Market was wide open, so it was safe to assume that if any division within GM fielded a front drive wagon, it would have been Chevrolet, and it could have looked like this.
Considering there hadn’t been a Nova wagon since 1967 and there were wagon versions of the J-body Cavalier and FWD A-body Celebrity in the pipeline, I doubt something like this was seriously considered.
