01981: J-Car vs K-car / Alphabet Soup
The platform that saved a corporation, shows off its latest model, for the 1982 model year. The convertible you think of when you thought of convertibles in the 1980’s, showed off its attractive four lamp face, to show the versatility of Chrysler’s K-car.
And, for the first time ever, GM chose its new small car platform to share across the board to its entire divisional landscape (minus GMC). The Oldsmobile Firenza, was known as the Starfire early on, as it was slated to replace the (then) current Monza based Starfire.
